If you've ever walked at The
Scoop at More London, then you might have heard about the Free Open Air
Theatre. You may be wondering,
"Is it some kind of street performance?" Or "What's
so special about it?"
The Free Open Air Theatre
is not just any street performance; it comprises a group of performers doing
real theatrical plays at The Scoop. The reason why it's called the "free
open air theatre” is because their performances are free for all.
The Free Open Air Theatre Season has been giving live performances
since 2003. They have performed for more than 28,000 people in some of their
plays. The free program encourages people from all walks of life to be
entertained by the fantasy stories of the past that are conveyed in their
performances.
Last 2017, the theatre performed The
Odyssey. Approximately 2, 800 people out of 28,000 visited the
theatre for the first time. The theatre claimed that 94% of the audience
thought that their performance was excellent.
This year, the open air theatre brings to life the old childhood fairy
tales, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and King Arthur. Book a stay at any of the hotels
in North London and join the theatre's 15th year at the
Scoop with Dorothy's journey to Oz, also witness the love triangle between King
Arthur, Queen Guinevere, and the handsome Knight Lancelot. As always, the plays
are free.
The dates of their performances are from August 8th to September 2nd 2018. The
Wonderful Wizard of Oz will show from Wednesday to Saturday, at the time 6pm to
7pm. On Sunday, it will start at 4pm and end at 5pm. King Arthur will be
performed from Wednesday to Saturday, the play will begin at 7:30pm onwards.
